Gene Culberson, Pit Master of Back Woods Bar-b-Que has gained a reputation of one of the best cooks in SC. Cooking approx. 30 events a year along with his wife Tesa, they have gained a winning reputation in SCBA but also a formidable competitor in KCBS. Back Woods Bar-B-Que finished 2014 as SCBA Master Barbecue Runner up, only to come back and win the 2015 & 2016 SCBA Master Barbecue State Championship. S’Lowcountry Q
S’Lowcountry Q – Quentin and Barbara Tedder decided to get serious about Competition BBQ in 2015. In 2016, they earned 6th place for the State-Sanctioned South Carolina Master BBQ Championship. In 2017 S’Lowcountry Q has been a top 5 team since the season began in February. ‘Slow and Low’ is the motto for this Lowcountry Team from Beaufort, SC.
Blazin’ Bullets Barbeque
Ken Hilliard and Dawn Verbarg were introduced to the barbeque scene as members of the South Carolina Barbeque Association, rising to the level of Master Judges and Marshals. In 2015, they formed their own competition cook team and currently compete in SCBA events with the goal of preserving and promoting the diversity of South Carolina barbeque.
